  • Peter Hollands
  • Peter provides the company's expertise in the copper market, and is the company's Managing Director. He has a B.Sc in Geology from University College London, and began a career in geophysical data processing, then moved to oil exploration in the Libyan Desert. Returning to the UK he worked for five years at the International Tin Council, then spent eleven years at the Commodities Research Unit, where he was appointed Research Manager, Copper Production. He specialised in the custom concentrates market. Peter left CRU to found BME in 1993. He is Editor of the monthly Copper Briefing Service and the Quarterly Report on Copper.

  • Adam Sotowicz
  • Adam provides the company's expertise in various forms of modelling: conventional regression analysis, regression splines, neural nets, genetic algorithms, decision tress, Principal Component analysis, Kalman filters, Fourier analysis, wavelet analysis and Monte Carlo Modelling. Adam began his career in scientific research. While still an undergraduate he discovered 1,4 oxymercuration. He has a Ph.D in Chemistry from University College London, and undertook post-doctoral research on synthesis of compounds for leaching uranium ores at the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College London. Working in the UK and Spain, he subsequently moved into information technology and mathematical modelling. He joined BME as Information Technology manager in 1996. He has completed "fair value" models of monthly average prices of copper, aluminium, nickel, zinc, lead, and gold markets. For our subsidiary company, BME Price Models, Adam has developed live-feed technical analysis models for the LME metals and the dollar:Euro exchange rate.
  • Mire Zloh
  • Mire Joined BME in November 2004, and is working with Adam Sotowicz on modelling of metal prices. Mire has an M.Sc in Physical Chemistry from the University of Belgrade, and a Ph.D in Chemistry from University College London.
  • Paul Dewison
  • Paul expertise is in copper fabricating and the downstream aspects of the copper market. He graduated in Geography at Cambridge University and has a broad background in economic consultancy ranging in scope from oil and gas, shipping, and non-ferrous metals. His specific experience has been in copper, where he has previously held consultancy positions in the firms CRU International and Brook Hunt & Associates, as well as his own company, Metalica Ltd., where he was the Managing Director. In addition to bringing a full understanding of the dynamics of the entire copper process chain, Paul brings to BME an in-depth knowledge of the business and markets of cablemakers and copper/alloy products fabricators.

  • Chris Welch
  • Chris started at BME in 2005 as a Geologist. He holds a B.Sc in Geology from University College London and has experience in Kimberlite mining in Africa. He recently completed a conversion course in economics at the Birkbeck School of Economics, Mathematics and Statistics. Chris specialises in copper production and development project news and writes the "News in Brief" and "Mine Supply and Stocks" sections of the Copper Briefing. He has also given many presentations around the globe for BME in the last 12 months , the latest being at Metal Bulletin's 21st Copper Conference in Bulgaria, and has given one-to-one client road shows in New York and London.

  • Barbera Sotowicz
  • Barbara was a co-founder of BME in 1993 and is Company Secretary. She has a B.Sc in Geology from University College London, with work experience at BP (on tar sands, particularly). Subsequently she obtained an M.Sc. in Crystallography from Birkbeck College and has had extensive research experience in Kimberlite mineralogy.
  • Neil Seldon
  • Non-executive Chairman. Based in Vancouver.
    Neil is President of Neil S Seldon & Associates
    Neil Seldon is a graduate of the Royal School of Mines, and began his career with a metal merchant in London, including time with their ring-dealing group on the London Metal Exchange. He then moved to Canada, where his career included Manager Marketing with Zapata Grandby Corporation, and Vice-President Marketing with Westmin Resources Ltd. He has extensive international experience in many aspects of Marketing. In conjunction with BME, Neil Seldon & Associates is available or consultancy assignments, particularly those combining appraisal of the general copper price and concentrate market outlooks with assessment of the marketability of specific concentrates from planned new mines, for input into pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, and due diligence.
